MARGERY GOOD

Champion Breeder, BIS Crufts 2009, BIS WDS 2008, BIS AENC 2008
If there is a guru among owner-handlers in dog shows right now, it is Margery Good, whose 4-year-old Sealyham Terrier Charmin (Ch. Efbe's Hidalgo at Goodspice), is one of the nation's top-ranked dogs.

As his name suggests, Charmin started off life as a “squeezably soft” puppy, but he has succeeded beyond even Mr. Whipple's wildest dreams. The 2009 victor at the largest show in the world, the 2008 Terrier Group in New York, Charmin also won the prestigious All-Terrier Show and the Dog Show in Stockholm, Sweden, which drew some 22,000 dogs from all over the globe.

In 2007, Charmin took top honors at the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship in Long Beach, California. Margery attributes much of their success as a team to having a great dog with the right attitude, giving the correct exercise, proper coat care and excellent nutrition from the beginning.

The champion is primarily fed on Eukanuba premium dog food, and according to Margery, “Charmin loves the taste of the food. It helps him maintain a healthy body weight”.

MIKE GADSBY

The acclaimed white standard poodle, Am & UK Ch Afterglow The Big Tease (also known as Donny), has made a major impact in show rings on two continents. Donny’s first big victory came while still an untitled class dog when he won Best in Show at the Poodle Club of America national specialty. That win was followed by numerous all-breed Bests, and his return to England as a mature adult proved even more rewarding when he became 2008’s Top Dog of all breeds.

Other highlights include representing Britain in the 2008 Eukanuba World Challenge. For his breeder and owner/handlers, Michael Gadsby and Jason Lynn of Afterglow Poodles and American Cockers, success in the ring starts at home. “We strive to give our dogs as much exercise and freedom as possible when preparing them for the ring. That means lots of free-running and fresh air,” says Michael. “In heavily coated breeds like ours condition is a high priority, and keeping a dog’s skin and coat in peak form is crucial.

We’ve found that great nutrition makes our job easier, and we love the results we get from Eukanuba. Poodles can be picky eaters, but now even our youngsters have great bodies with plenty of covering”. Donny’s show career culminated in Reserve Best in Show at Crufts in 2009, but there will no doubt be other contenders in the years to come from this dedicated kennel.
